Painting the Arquitens Mk2 turned out to be surprisingly similar to painting the first ship. And not only because it is basically the same model.

About a year ago I undertook the largest scratch build of my career, a 50 cm long Arquitens-class light cruiser. Well now I'm back with another one! There must be something seriously wrong with me.

The paint job on my Ikaruga was directly inspired by pictures of the ship I found on the interwebz. However, as it turned out, there are a few different versions of the ship and I managed to mix them up in my head. While it didn't matter in the end, remember to do your research!

The fourth in my series of SHMUP based conversions is the D117B Axelay, from the game Axelay. This is a game which I personally consider to be one of the greatest SHUMPs of all time. It is currently the last in this line of designs, though who knows when inspiration might strike again?

The third in my series of SHMUP inspired conversions, we have the Ikaruga from the game with the same name. Normally I don't like bullet hell type shooters but the polarity system of Ikaruga makes it stand heads above its genre siblings. To this day it remains one of the best SHUMPs ever made.
